Just finished listening to a podcast by ATK where they redid their canned /
cooked bean tasting and found that canned beans actually performed better!
I think if you did some cinnamon and nutmeg and such, it would completely obliterate
the bean taste.
That will make
the beans taste better, as well as provide you with a whole batch of broth, which you can use in place vegetable broth in any recipe.
The payoff was that
