This beautiful monochromatic print has been created to accompany Armando Andrade Tudela's work included in Adventures of the Black Square: Abstract Art and Society 1915 — 2015, an exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery, 14th January — April 2015) which presents a survey of the history of the black square in modern and contemporary art.

They are presented on the ground and first floors of the Eighteenth Century mansion which is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and engaging galleries in Europe and was formerly the founding home of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (from 1960 to 1984).

The three paintings, which were described by Tate Modern director Frances Morris as «sensual, seductive and beautiful», will be the centrepiece of the gallery's first solo Picasso show, which will focus on just one formative year of the artist's life — 1932.

The Hayward Gallery's ambitious exhibition «The Painting of Modern Life», the first curated by its recently appointed director, Ralph Rugoff, gave us an account of how painters have made use of photography since that pivotal moment in the early 1960s when the canvas confronted the photograph in all its brute, beautiful ubiquity.
