I recognize that I will never ever eat a dessert made out
of Oreo Coookies again as long as I live and I probably won't ever be the type
of mom who makes a three tiered «Oh The Places You Go» themed birthday
cake, but I love to look at the
pictures because they are fun and cute and
beautiful, and then I take that inspiration back to my kitchen and set out to prove to the world that you don't need food coloring, bread crumbs or sugar to make food look cute and fun.
So the
cake you see here
pictured is less than
beautiful as it has huge clumps
of flour on it.
The cookbook is split up into sections; breakfast, tarts & pies,
cakes, fruit desserts, cookies, pastries & confections, cream desserts, with a glass
of wine (savouries) and basic bakery recipes, has a decent amount
of beautiful pictures and plenty
of advice and tips for each recipe.
Perhaps either my eyes or your
pictures are deceiving, but the texture
of this
cake is
beautiful — soft but rich and almost creamy.
And I agree that it's not as dark as
pictured, but it's still
beautiful, especially if, when you remove the
cake from the pan after it's soaked up the sauce, you brush the surface with a silicone basting brush so that all the brush strokes align nicely with the shape
of the
cake.
