I was actually surprised when I saw the chicken on your blog,
because I had assumed you were veggie It looked really tasty, meat is so incredibly difficult to
photograph that it actually looks appealing That's so important that you say «no shame, no labels, just good
food».
You probably will have some leftover with this recipe, although I didn't, probably
because I dropped giant globs of it all over my veggies and maybe snuck in a
food spoonfuls while
photographing.
Styling: Creating a story around the
food I
photograph is one of my favorite aspects of
food photography and
because of that I style all my work myself.
You're probably laughing at this
because my pictures are so amateur anyway, but I do like to at least have enough light to show the real color and texture of the
food I am
photographing.
I remember standing on my kitchen island trying to get an overhead shot
because that's back when I actually thought you could make AND
photograph food in the kitchen.
The hardest thing to
photograph is a dinner entree
because the lighting is usually so low and who wants to save good
food until morning?
Partly
because I was pressed for time and in a rush to
photograph them (and had to use the super harsh, early morning light), but mostly
because there's been a disproportionate amount of brown - colored
food in this space (these, those, and this)(and now you're looking at more) and it's summer and the farmers market is bursting with vibrant produce and I'm just over here whipping up shit with peanut butter and chocolate.
I rarely share breakfast recipes
because I'm just too hungry after my run to style and
photograph the
food.
No chance,
because criteria numero uno is the look of your
food on a
photograph.
Oh, I so get the trying to
photograph food while your hungry and the household is hungry and you're stressing out
because you just want to eat and not have to
photograph every single thing you make and eat.
I love
photographing food (and studying
food photography)
because I love seeing all of the elements (like the right lighting, camera angle, focus, props, ingredients, and garnishes) come together to produce a beautiful image.
Because, the goal of a
food blogger is to
photograph the
food.
