If the front lambda sensor voltage is indicating rich, why is the
fuel trim positive (indicating that the
injector pulse - width is increased
because the AFR is deemed too lean by the sensor)?

because you have
fuel flow to the engine, doesn't mean the

Explanation I eventually came across was that
injectors leak while engine is off
because fuel lines are still pressurized.
And
because the
injectors are sited as close to the intake ports as possible, there is very little time for
fuel to drop out of the airstream before it enters the cylinder.
The
fuel filter is easy to change but
fuel injectors can not be cleaned on the vehicle
because they have internal filter baskets.
Having said that even our petrol wrecks havoc with todays modern
injectors because it is down to the Euro 2
fuel... its just too high in sulfur content which why you see a higher failure rate for
fuel injectors for modern cars especially performance cars....
