It doesn't even matter if he is giving the people what they want — as unlikely as it is that the people who voted for Donald Trump for president did so
because they love Thursday night
cliffhangers about who will be the next secretary
of housing and urban development.
Even so, the conclusion
of Infinity War is so shocking
because it doesn't feel like a
cliffhanger, more like a drastic wiping clean
of the slate before the whole cycle starts again, with whatever reversal
of fortune or comprehensive reboot it may be.
That's
because instead
of trying to step up the drama or conjure up
cliffhangers, it's too busy pursuing its own interests, which range from murdering robots and hallucinating about famous musicians to drunken karaoke and tripping out on tea in Japan.
Hah, yes,
because I'm taking a break to write the sequel to Encrypted next, I didn't want to leave EE5 with too much
of a
cliffhanger (though I was a little tempted — I almost didn't write that epilogue!).
AN: I'd say
of the newer series I look forward to «The Promised Neverland»
because the
cliffhangers at the end
of each chapter leave you really wanting more.
Again, this is
because Deponia is the first in a planned trilogy, so we always knew it was going to end in a
cliffhanger of some description, but the games finale just felt weak in comparison to the rest
of the story.
