It's like a small scared child in a dark room claiming there is some monster out there in the darkness so you turn on the lights to show him there is no monster, but he just get's more scared claiming the monster must have hid in the closet or under the
bed or anywhere you havn't yet looked, and when you do look and show them nothing is there it doesn't make them relieved, they get more
upset because they now believe the monster is super fast or invisible or can teleport, because they know it's there, they can just
feel it!
If your child wakes up on the wrong side of
bed, or gets whiney or grumpy it can be a sign of
upset feelings under the surface that are causing them to
feel disconnected.
When the time comes for a child to transition to her own
bed, make sure that the transition is gentle and that parents respond to any
feelings of fear or
upset experienced by the child
