I would say all sides come to the forefront, but I think that some of us
see things from more than one side to
begin with and that there are many «sides» (
perspectives) that are out there, I don't think it is a polemic, and I don't think it is «sides» in terms of choosing sides in a war... more a dialogue where confrontations take place, but (hopefully) most of the time not with the intent of winners and losers (or, if that is the intent, that hopefully we realize that and adjust our own rhetoric to move away
from that pardigm)
There is a sense of the uncannily familiar yet strange upon returning to your hometown, particularly if you hail
from a small town, and you
begin to compare the incomparable differences and
see things from a new
perspective.
