«Surveys show most consumers
believe organic poultry and livestock regularly spend time
outdoors, have fresh
air throughout the day and have significantly more space than conventionally raised livestock» reports Food Navigator, even though that's not always the case for certified organic animal operations.
The ASPCA
believes farm animals should be given sufficient time in an
outdoor environment, where weather conditions permit, that provides them with adequate space, vegetation or environmental enrichment, natural light, fresh
air, and protection from deleterious weather conditions, predators and disease.
