The AMOLED panel delivers perfect contrast and great viewing angles, and despite
below average brightness it's still easy to see in most conditions.
We measured the brightness of the Tribute 5's screen, and it hit just 293 nits, which is well
below the average brightness for smartphones we've tested (428 nits).
Not exact matches
On our
brightness test, the ChildPad measured 230 lux, which is better than the Kurio (147 lux), but well
below the tablet
average of 356 lux and the Kindle Fire HD's 460 lux.
Still, the screen's
brightness rating of 243 lux is higher than the category
average of 227 lux, but just
below the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga's 281 lux.
The Inspiron 11 registered 282 nits of
brightness on our light meter, which is
below the ultraportable category
average of 302 nits.
On the plus side, it registered a
brightness of 341 lux, which is 10 higher than the Asus TF300, but a bit
below the tablet
average of 355 lux.
The Excite 13's
brightness of 241 lux fell well
below the category
average of 359, as well as other leading 10 - inch tablets such as the TF 300 (331 lux) and the iPad (386).
Measuring 249 nits on our light meter, the Dell Venue 10 7000 registered
below -
average brightness.
Using our light meter, we recorded 284 nits of
brightness on the Fire tablet, which is
below the 35 - nit
average for tablets.
Maximum
brightness of the H8C measures at around 440 cd / m ² — higher than most 1080p televisions, but slightly
below average for HDR - devices.
The panel
averaged 262 nits (a measure of
brightness), which is
below the 291 - nit category
average and the marks from the Lenovo ThinkPad P70 (277 nits) and the Precision 5520 (335 nits).
The ZenBook Flip 14 emits up to 274 nits of
brightness, which is slightly
below the 287 - nit
average for premium notebooks as well as the 284 - nit Yoga 920 and the 289 - nit Notebook 9 Pen.
The Moto X's
brightness of 268 nits is not only lower than the smartphone
average of 353 nits, but it's also
below that of the S5's 373 nits.
Our light meter measured the Honor 8 at 410 nits of
brightness — a little
below the 436 - nit
average for smartphones, but brighter than the Nexus 6P (337), the OnePlus 3 (379) and the ZTE Axon 7 (319).

According to our light meter, the ThinkPad 13's screen emits a maximum of 243 nits of
brightness, well
below the 301 - nit category
average, but about on par with the ThinkPad T470 (234 nits) and much brighter than the Dell Latitude 5480.
Using a light meter, we measured 322 nits of
brightness,
below the 437 - nit smartphone
average and dimmer than both the Honor 5X (529) and GX8 (458).
In Datacolor's Spyder4 tests, the Tecra's screen delivered poor contrast and
below -
average brightness.
If there was any major knock on this display, it would be
brightness, with the panel falling
below average in this regard.
