On behalf of the more than 9,000 members and 6,000 firms represented by the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), we believe
the benefits of alternative business structures as described in the issues paper outweigh any potential risks.
But, as revealed by the Initiative's consultations, Canadian lawyers are divided on the current state of legal market as well as
the benefits of Alternative Business Structures («ABS»):

of Windsor Faculty
of Law professor has prepared a study — commissioned by the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association — that questions one
of the
benefits touted by proponents: improved access to justice.
