This time on Region Locked, we take a look at Square's Super Nintendo (SNES) RPG that never left Japan, Live A Live, which is largely considered one of
the best SNES games to never leave Japanese soil.

SNES only had one (traditional) Mario, one Zelda, and one Metroid, and not only are they three of the
best games on the system, they're quite frankly three of the
best games on any system that they're available on.
Whether it was beating a friend at a video
game (Street Fighter 2 on
SNES comes to mind), playing sports (my favorite sport was basketball although I was always
better at running track) or academic competitions (yes, I was a bit of a math nerd).
I can think of a grand total of 2 party
games EVER that are
better: Super Bomberman on the
SNES and Twisted on the 3DO.
Fox n Forests can't be faulted for its fantastically accurate portrayal of 16 - bit platforming; very few indie
games have managed to nail the look and sound of the
SNES so
well.
This
game brings out the
best in old school gaming, making your
SNES dreams reappear in modern times as this wonderfully put together package.
Metroid Prime on the
Game Cube was infinitely
better, and even Super Metroid on the
SNES.
Smash bros is pretty much the same as the last
game, mario kart looks ok, dk looks like more of the same from wii, Hell the Dk
games on
snes had more effort and felt more like whole
games and less like cop outs for money, do nt get me wrong DK for wii was
good but was nothing even close to the old ones, do nt care about wind waker its an old
game that i played on my gamecube a few times.
supermario world 2 yoshi's island was the
best is my favorite
game of
snes, I don't like the new ones with that ugly music
Secret Of Mana is an old
SNES game from 1993, which is fondly remembered as one of the
best titles on the system.
I see I'll shut my mouth on it then, I don't want to spoil it for you I'm considering giving FE a shot, will be my first
game in that series, I always hear only
good responses on FE, same for DQ (going back to the nes and
snes days) which turned out the reason for me to try them on the ds and love them.

best Castlevania
game ever made, and were instead treated to a poorly - realized

best is a «boss» mini
game that recreates the Corneria stage from the original Star Fox, complete with
SNES - style graphics.

good as the original trilogy

SNES through the WiiShop anyway and I have already played those to death... Earthbound was a surprise but in the end after all the hoopla it really was just a very easy mediocre

New
games being made for the beloved
SNES are always a reason for celebration, and this is for a
good cause, so it'll be worth keeping an eye on Fork Parker and his hapless employees.
It was the first
game with the character that was not developed in Japan, it also lacked any input from Shigeru Miyamoto, the first to use pre-rendered 3D graphics on a console, and most importantly — at 9 million units sold — it was the second
best selling
game of the
SNES, losing only to Super Mario World.
The
SNES has
good 2D graphics, nothing like current consoles, but I enjoy 2D
games more than 3D
games for their simplicity.
The one big drawback to the
SNES now is
good games are fairly expensive compared to other retro consoles like NES or Genesis.
Chrono Trigger's writing wasn't anywhere near as bad as your typical
SNES RPG but even at the time, it was nowhere as
good as say the writing in Lunar: Eternal Blue (which came out the year earlier on the Sega CD) or a
well done PC RPG or point & click adventure
game from that era.
I am still waiting to find a
good deal on a used
SNES with a handful of
games on eBay to relive those days.
If the NES Classic sold on «nostalgia» it appears the
SNES mini will sell on
good games, with
games such A Link To The Past and Super Metroid, and Earthbound.
Favorite
games include those mentioned above, Aladdin for
SNES, losing her life to Animal Crossing and the
good Resident Evil
games.
The NES &
SNES era of
games (including arcade
games) play just as wonderfully as they did then now (providing they were
good then).
I'm in full agreement with Shaun when it comes to his opinion that this is the
best Dragon Quest
game and one of the
best Japanese RPGs (The original
SNES / Super Famicom version is in my top 5 list of rpgs on the system, and it didn't even have the party chat system or one of the brides).
Hailed as one of the
best games ever released for the
SNES, Donkey Kong Country has also made it onto the
SNES Classic.
While DKC purists might be put off by the change in the formula of the traditional
games, Donkey Kong Country Returns is an excellent comeback to what is considered one of the
best game series of the
SNES era, as
well as a nice entry point for people who never played the original
games.
The article is simply assuming that the PS4 will have the «
better games», not only because it has the
better hardware specs, but also because Sony has tons of first party studios, and because for 3 generations straight, the PlayStation brand has features most of the
best games since the
SNES.
who can say after a decade or two overwatch and PUBG is still online when change is constant like companies being shutdown, bought, servers used for other
games etc. while a
good ol SP
game like mario world, super mario 2 and all my nintendo collection on my
SNES is still alive today and i can play them anytime.
Sadly I didn't end up getting too many
games for it as I couldn't handle the noise of UMD's, despite it having the last Burnout
game that was any
good, and as a result it became an emulation machine mainly for
SNES and PS1
games, which I adore it for even now.
It all comes together nicely without losing what made the
game look
good and play
well on
SNES.
