Where women get accurate information about breastfeeding and formula
feeding and are allowed to make the choice (if they have one) that's
best for their families and then supported, no matter what that
decision is.
It's not that easy for someone to make a
decision about taking depression medication while breastfeeding, since you may have to weigh the benefits of treating the symptoms against leaving the illness untreated as
well as choosing not to breast
feed your child.
Whatever
decision individual mothers take, one thing is sure, when the time comes for stopping breast
feeding they feel a mixture of both sadness and pride: sadness that this particular stage of their baby's life is over, pride in their body's own ability to provide their baby with the very
best start to life!
Feeding your baby should not be stressful, but it might be a time when you have to learn to make
decisions that are
best for you, your baby, and your entire family.
Although economic, cultural, and political pressures often confound
decisions about infant
feeding, the AAP firmly adheres to the position that breastfeeding ensures the
