Good tidepooling spots are located within Bechers Bay, including just east of the pier, the east end of Southeast Anchorage, and near East Point.

Though you could easily spend your stay peering into the
tidepools or watching the horizon from North Santa Teresa beach, just in front of LunaKai, you'll hardly need to put on sandals for the 5 - minute walk to the more
well - known Santa Teresa beach, home to one of the area's
best surf breaks.
But it's one of the
best places in San Diego to meditate on waves crashing on the cliffs and explore
tidepools in the rocky reefs full of marine life.
Some of the
best spots to take a break and check out some highlights include: visiting Point Reyes National Seashore and close by Point Reyes Station, the Russian fort in Sonoma called Fort Ross, the gorgeous coastal
tidepools at Point Arena and then to the lovely historic town of Mendocino city and even just a little north to Fort Bragg and the cool glass sand beach.
Fortunately, the only accessible
tidepool location on the island happens to be a very
good one.
That's when the
good low tides occur during daylight hours, and when we have Park Rangers and Volunteers stationed in the
tidepools to answer questions.
There is also a nice
tidepools viewing platform here, as
well as a lawn, resting benches, historic marker, and picnic tables.
The location couldn't be
better for views,
tidepools and nice cafes.

On the north end there are exceptionally alive
tidepools (check them out at night — during a full moon if you have the chance) and
good snorkeling around the outcropping.
