All it was is basically a slightly
better dead island.
I bought the «special edition» that entitled me to download the DLC for free,
well Dead Island was so bad I never bothered.

Despite some issues
Dead Island is a
good game that mixes, in a fresh way, lots of different styles (like survival horror, action, first person gaming...).
Dead Island: Riptide takes all of the worst elements of that title, removes some of the
better ones and adds a few features that are average at
best to create something that is wholly underwhelming.
While
Dead Island: Riptide serves the zombie genre
well, it doesn't do anything new with it.
You might think that Techland would be
well shot of the troubled
Dead Island franchise, given that they had such a big hit with Dying Light, but now that
Dead Island 2 is no longer being handled by Yager, it seems they wouldn't rule out a return.
For us it turned out
well, because being forced to come up with a new IP... We can't just make a
Dead Island 2 and change the name; it's got to be something fresh, it's got to be something unique.
Considering the lukewarm reception to Homefront: The Revolution last month, E3 seems like a pretty
good time for Deep Silver to remind people that
Dead Island 2 is still a thing, doesn't it?
The company that brought you
Dead Island has acquired the intellectual property rights for two of THQ's
best...
Wired Magazine, College Humor and G4TV all called it the
best video game trailer of all time, with G4TV adding «The
Dead Island trailer is the
best trailer I have ever seen in my life.
I can't call Escape
Dead Island a bad game, but I really can't call it a
good game either.
If you are a skeptic or just plain nitpicky about your games, you'll find enough to hate with Escape
Dead Island that you are probably
better off playing something else.
Both have their appeal, but the current
Dead Island framework simply isn't diverse enough to reconcile the two genres, especially not in a
well - rounded yet flawed post-launch expansion.
There is no doubt that
Dead Island is a
good game once you look past all the glitches.

Sure, these missions soon devolve into tedium as
well, but for a brief moment, it is a fresh take on the
Dead Island series.
This part is almost exactly like
Dead Island right down to having tough zombies that take a fair few hits to bring down, but it does get progressively faster to bring them down as you get through the game and find
better weapons.
I probably won't because I think that leveling your character's abilities and equipment is the
best part of the
Dead Island games, which both became exceedingly dull once I maxed everything out.
Preordered collectors edition of
Dead Island from EB a while back, hope it will be
good.
The problem is we're remembering the excellent trailer for
Dead Island 1 knowing that the resulting game was pants, and now, no matter how
good their trailers are we'll expect the worst.
Might have been
better to have added Escape
Dead Island (despite it's poor reviews) than an endless runner.
Dead Island only came out a few years ago and
well, it's not retro.

well as on Steam, and will have sold two million units globally to retailers by the end of the week.

This wouldn't be the first time
Dead Island hyped itself with a
well produced announcement video.
I thought
Dead Island was one of the
best games of last year, and I am a fan of their first two Call of Juarez titles (we will pretend the third one didn't exist).
If you don't plan on playing this game co-op, the flimsy storyline and frustration of glitches will prevent you from experiencing the
best features of
Dead Island.
The first
Dead Island was long on
good ideas but short on skillful execution, and while there's still a truly great game lurking in there somewhere, Riptide is not it.

The cinematic that was clearly in the same vein as the incredibly
well - made cinematic trailer for the original
Dead Island but wasn't nearly as
good?
Dying Light doesn't contain the words «
Dead Island» in its title, and yet developer Techland sticks extremely close to its zombie roots: hack the undead horde with melee weapons, invite a few friends, and do your
best to survive the invasion.
The level we got a chance to see gameplay for may have been an early prototype for
Dead Island 2, but it already looks immensely
better than any of the previous
Dead Island games.
Soon
Dead Island's sequel, Riptide, will be in the stores, so I thought it would be a
good time to revisit the hit zombie RPG game.
Other games have still done the same thing
better though and apart from the ubiquitous zombies
Dead Island's list of unique features is perilously thin, and that was true of the original let alone this obviously rushed cash - in.
By way of comparison, if Borderlands (which some people have said
Dead Island is similar to) had made even a third of the effort that
Dead Island does in terms of story, maybe I'd have ended up with a
better opinion of it.
Along the same lines, one of the things I liked
best about the original
Dead Island was that whenever I happened upon a survivor, it felt like a surprise.
Years ago, you'd watch Fantasy
Island and Love Boat, and you'd find these actors you swore were
dead, and you'd watch them and you'd go, «They are as
good as ever.
Though mission objectives in the first
Dead Island were rarely complex, it helps navigate the herd — the three players in my demo got killed a lot until we started putting the game's teamwork - enriching mechanisms to
good use.

Dead Island: Riptide (9 / 8/8 / 8, 33 points): The only Western game release this week generated praise from Famitsu for the most part, with reviewers scoring the game
well above their Western counterparts even though they seemed pretty bored of the concept in the review text.
We also see how his greedy management team of Lou (Ted Levine, «Shutter
Island,» but probably
best known as the cross-dressing serial killer Buffalo Bill in «The Silence Of the Lambs») and Dan Duva (Jordan Gelber, «Before the Devil Knows You're
Dead»), struggle to get him a fight after his recuperation.
