of animals, but also due to the link

of Veterinary Medicine and the American Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to
Animals (ASPCA) is making it easier for veterinary professionals to distinguish
between accidents and

The victim advocacy movement may yet regrow a bona fide humane movement rooted in representing «the voice
of the voiceless,» as poet Etta Wheeler Wilcox put it in 1910, at a time when humane societies were the standard bearers for
abused and exploited children as well as
animals, and stood in opposition to slavers and the Ku Klux Klan, not in defense
of the dogs the slavers and the KKK bred and used to intimidate racial and ethnic minorities,
between staging fundraising dogfights.
The HSUS also praised Rep. Urban for her efforts to increase the understanding

of legislation requiring cross reporting

animal care workers to confront convicted
animal abusers carries significant risk and puts them into a de facto law enforcement role for which they are not properly trained or prepared.
However, the bond
between a therapy dog and an

of magical to observe, as the
animal provides non-judgmental comfort and can ultimately help with the healing process for the child.
