education settings» (November 2014) presented the following evidence: pupils with better health and well ‑ being are likely to achieve better academically; effective social and emotional competencies are associated with greater health and well ‑ being, and better achievement; the culture, ethos and environment of a school influences the health and well - being of pupils and their readiness to learn; and a positive association exists
between academic
attainment and physical activity levels of pupils.
A study of 300 schools which increased their EBacc entry rates
between 2010 and 2013 found that pupils» average
attainment in GCSE English and maths increased following the curriculum changes and that pupils at these schools were also less likely to have left
education after the age of 16, than peers at other schools.
Additionally, external studies and our own data show there is a strong link
between academic
attainment and outdoor
education.
