The interactions
between effortful control and negative affectivity were included in order to examine the role of effortful control as a possible moderator of the relation between negative affectivity and child problem behavior.
We also considered possible additive and / or interactive contributions of child dispositional anger and psychosocial adversity, and whether relations
between effortful control and early externalizing problems were moderated by child gender.
Examined associations
between effortful control temperament and externalizing problems in 220 3 - year - old boys and girls, controlling for co-occurring cognitive and social risk factors.

Differences
between alleles were not related to the child's self - regulation as assessed by the
effortful control measure.
This study tested relations
between differentiation of self, adult attachment, and
effortful control in a sample of 225 adults.

Anxiousness, frustration, and
effortful control as moderators of the relation

In addition, there was a significant difference
between mothers and fathers on punishment of low
effortful control and discouraging surgency, favoring fathers.
In addition to independent contributions of temperament dimensions, potential moderator effects
between negative affectivity and
effortful control on ODD problems were also tested.
Our data revealed no evidence of significant interactions
between negative affectivity and
effortful control in predicting ODD - related problems.
In order to test the potential moderator effect
between negative affectivity and
effortful control on ODD - related problems, we conducted two separate multiple hierarchical regression analyses, one for the parental and the other for the teacher rate of ODD - related problems.
For both regressions, there was no evidence of significant interactions
between negative affectivity and
effortful control (B = 0.73, p = 0.73 for the parent rate; B = − 0.95, p = 11, for teacher rate) in predicting ODD - related problems.
For the potential moderator effects
between negative affectivity and
effortful control on ODD problems, we predicted that high levels of negative emotionality and low levels of
effortful control would be linked to ODD - related problems.
Next, we will capitalize on the prospective, longitudinal design to examine (2) how the developmental timing of violence exposure may affect changes in offspring adjustment across adolescence; (3) risk and protective factors (e.g.,
effortful control, parent monitoring) that may mediate associations
between violence exposure in childhood and adolescence adjustment; (4) intergenerational transmission of IPV (and parent aggression) and the circumstances whereby parents» developmental risk factors (e.g., exposure to IPV during childhood) increase the occurrence of IPV (and parent aggression) in adulthood and the risk of child adjustment difficulties.
Second, relations
between the broad temperament dimensions (negative affectivity, surgency, and
effortful control) and externalizing and internalizing problem behaviors were examined and compared
between clinically referred and general population children by using multigroup path analyses in M - plus 6.11 [34].
Within the temperament dimension
effortful control all subscales were significantly different
between the groups in the expected direction, with the referred group scoring lower than the population group (Table 2).
The independent variables were the three broad temperament dimensions plus a quadratic term for
effortful control, and interactions
between negative affectivity and the linear and quadratic term for
effortful control.
Effortful Control Mediates Relations
Between Children's Attachment Security and their Regard for Rules of Conduct.
Anxiousness, frustration, and
effortful control as moderators of the relation
between parenting and adjustment in middle - childhood
The results show that high levels of frustration / negative affect in the 1 — 3 year - old group and low
effortful control in children 3 to 6 years old are the most relevant variables in differentiating
between aggressive and non-aggressive subjects.
