According to one study that looked at eight fuel aridity metrics in the Western U.S. and modeled
climate change's effects on them,
human -
caused climate change accounted for about 55 percent
of the observed increases in fuel aridity
between 1979 and 2015 (Figure 6), and added an estimated 4.2 million hectares
of forest fire area
between 1984 and 2015.7 Based on all eight metrics, the Western U.S. experienced an average

climate change between 2000 and 2015, a 50 percent increase from the baseline
of 17 days per year when looking back to 1979.

of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere as a result
of fossil fuel combustion or deforestation.»
This is not a careful argument, because people — sceptical and not — have been questioning the leaps

changes, the attribution

climate change through reduction in emissions.

human conflict.

between hurricanes and global warming, including rainfall, sea level, and storm surge; 2) leaves the impression that there is no significant connection
between recent
climate change caused by
human activities and hurricane characteristics and impacts; and 3) does not take full account
of the significance
of recently identified trends and variations in tropical storms in
causing impacts as compared to increasing societal vulnerability.
