The massive NIH - AARP study looks at the relationship
between meat consumption and total mortality, cancer mortality, and cardiovascular disease mortality.

Not exact matches
Research has shown a direct relationship
between the
consumption of red
meat and heart disease, so reducing or eliminating your intake of
meat for health reasons, makes sense.
Some studies suggest a link
between red
meat consumption and breast cancer.
The
consumption of
meat varies greatly
between countries, with from a few percent up to 100 % of people eating red
meat, depending on the country, and somewhat lower proportions eating processed
meat.
The results of the study revealed a significant satiety rating difference
between the
meat and mushroom
consumption groups.
The study's objective was to determine the differences in satiety
between a 10 - day
consumption of 226g white button mushrooms and 28g of
meat in a randomized crossover study.
Other studies have also shown a strong link

Since many people either have low levels of vitamin d or low levels of cofactors needed for its metabolism, and animal protein increases IGF - 1 levels which may be problematic if vitamin d isn't doing its job, we can expect any associations
between animal protein and cancer to be attenuated after controlling for vitamin d. Although it's not like that epidemiology is impressive if you control for cooking intensity (high heat is associated but not lower heat methods) or processed
meat consumption.
Studies that differentiate
between processed and fresh red
meat have failed to find a link
between unprocessed red
meat consumption and heart disease.
Data also showed positive associations
between processed
meat consumption and stomach cancer, and
between red
meat consumption and pancreatic and prostate cancer.
Now, it's possible the apparent protective association
between rice and Alzheimer's «is more likely due» to the fact that the drop of rice
consumption associated with increasing Alzheimer's was accompanied by a rise in
meat consumption.
Epidemiological studies in the past have found correlations
between red and processed
meat consumption and the heightened risk for certain cancers, heart disease and high cholesterol.
In terms of the overall nutrient content, there is little difference
between dairy, eggs, and
meat so the overall food intake of many vegetarians is not that much different from that of health conscious
meat eaters due to a high
consumption of dairy, eggs, and oil.
Although coffee
consumption was inversely associated with diabetes, it was also positively associated with a number of behaviors that are considered unhealthy and are associated with an increased risk of death, such as tobacco smoking, 35
consumption of red
meat, 36 and heavy alcohol use.37 Tobacco smoking was the strongest confounder in the multivariate analysis, and the inverse association
between coffee
consumption and mortality tended to be stronger among persons who had never smoked or were former smokers than among those who were current smokers, suggesting that residual confounding by smoking status, if present, attenuated the inverse associations
between coffee drinking and mortality in our study.
The studies have identified important health risk factors including: persistent organic pollutants consumed through contaminated food may be linked to diabetes; eating
meat or eggs before pregnancy may raise gestational diabetes risk; taking in less than a single alcoholic drink per day may still raise the risk of breast cancer; daily
consumption of the amount of cholesterol found in one egg may shorten a woman's lifespan as much as limited smoking;
meat intake may be an infertility risk factor; there's a positive association
between teen milk intake, especially skim milk, and teen acne; and nut
consumption does not lead to expected weight gain.
Is there a difference
between the
consumption of the two types of animal
meats?
In July 2016, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology published a study identifying a link
between kidney failure and red
meat consumption.
By contrast, in the NHS II study there was a much smaller difference in red
meat consumption between the white and brown rice eaters — and the white rice eaters actually had a slightly lower incidence of diabetes.
Harvard Medical School's 20 year long, 120,000 participant study, Changes in Diet and Lifestyle and Long - Term Weight Gain in Women and Men found a link
between participants» weight change and
consumption of potato chips, potatoes, sugar sweetened beverages, and both processed and unprocessed red
meats.
A systematic review «Red and processed
meat consumption and risk of incident coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes: A systematic review and meta - analysis» showed that there was NO association
between unprocessed
meats and diabetes, heart disease or stroke, but a 42 % increased risk with processed
meats.

I am not going to wade into the Paleo vs. Vegan debate in this post (and whatever countless versions of those diets exist in
between), but it's important to note that there has been serious pushback against grain
consumption in recent years, particularly in North America, and a widespread embrace of saturated fats and
meat.
