More people are asking that very question today, and several companies are
offering bicycle insurance that mirrors the protection of auto insurance.
This is different to
bicycle insurance where most specialist policies will only cover the cyclist named on the policy (though bikes insured on home contents can be lent to family members).
Velosurance levels the playing field by offering a stand -
alone bicycle insurance policy where claims will not affect your homeowner or renters policy premiums.
However, even if you do not
carry bicycle insurance, you can still typically qualify to file a ICBC claim if a driver in your household named you on his or her Part 7 certificate or if the driver was at fault for your accident.
There are other
specialized bicycle insurance options you may also want to look into who might over this if this is important to you and you find out it would not be covered under your current policy.
If you will be using a bike to get around, you may want to get
special bicycle insurance or ask if your coverage has a limit on how much will be paid on a bike.
Regardless of how much a bike costs, both Foulks and Koetz have the same advice: The first thing cyclists need to do when looking
into bicycle insurance is to see their local agent.
However, in some cases you might want to go beyond that
basic bicycle insurance protection to something a little more souped - up.
You should always remember that investing on your new electric vehicle in the form of e-bike along with
electric bicycle insurance will have future benefits.
For example, you could test drive a friend's bike (read up here if you're curious
about bicycle insurance), or borrow their fuel belt for a run before you purchase your own.

bicycle insurance, and adhering to the rules of the road (would somebody draw those up, by the way?
