BIG BUDGET FILMS Dragonball Evolution (PG for intense action and brief adult language) Sci - fi martial arts adventure, based on the Akira Toriyama novel about a young warrior (Justin Chatwin) who, with a handful of friends, sets
out on a quest to save the planet from an evil king (James Marsters) bent on world domination.
The only nominee that now looks
out of place in such company is The Towering Inferno, a
big budget, star - studded disaster
movie from producer Irwin Allen, whose previous effort The Poseidon Adventure was more deserving of such acknowledgement.
Not once did I have to force myself to be gentler in my critique — this looks like a
big -
budget movie, and virtually stabs, mauls and garrottes the overwhelming majority of teen horror flicks
out there.
As I recall, I said the exact same thing about the last
movie directed by Louis Leterrier, Unleashed, so I think he has found a niche job in case directing
big budget action flicks doesn't pan
out.
Warner Bros. is understandably worried about sending
out a
big budget film with unproven talent, helmed by gross -
out comedy director like Dobkin making his first action
movie.
On the other hand is the
big budget sci - fi monster
movie Abrams teases
out as an homage to B -
movies of the»50s.
I'm into all types of
movies — I'm trying to make a horror film (next), and there's some indie
movies that'd cost about $ 5 to make that I'd like to do — but this was a chance for someone to write a check for a

budget comedy, and to be able to do something as balls -

big bore, as his battle with Superman turns into one of the most drawn -

budget cringefests in the history of comic - book
movies.
