Deploying the 16 controls reduced the warming by an additional 0.5 ˚C, again
with big error bars.
Perhaps the toughest problem of all to overcome, at least for young scientists, is the fact that, as with any probability problem, small numbers of publications and citations inevitably
mean big error bars.
An estimate of the potential for CO2 EOR done a few years ago for the Department of Energy — this has to be
with big error bars — the estimate was a factor of 10 potential to go.
And don't be so one sided: someone who is skeptical will look at 5 + / -6 and go «That's
a big error bar».
