Not exact matches
Not because it's the cause du jour that our
churches are promoting until the
next big thing comes along.
Part of my own story is that I went for a
big wander outside of my my mother
Church, encountering different and new and ancient ways of experiencing and knowing and being changed by our
big and generous God as if I were encountering occasional cups of water while in the desert, drinking each one down as if they were sustaining me for the
next leg of the journey.
I've known Jesus for as long as I've known my name, and still I use other people like capital to advance my own interest, still I gossip to make myself feel important, still I curse my brothers and sisters in one breath and sing praise songs in the
next, still I sit in
church with arms folded and cynicism coursing through my bloodstream, still I talk a
big game about caring for the poor without doing much to change my own habits, still I indulge in food I'm not hungry for and jewelry I don't need, still I obsess over what people say about me on the internet, still I forget my own privilege, still I talk more than I listen and complain more than I thank, still I commit acts of evil, still I make a great commenter on Christianity and a lousy practitioner of it.
His
big thought of the day was that we ought to take a meal to whoever was our
next door neighbor and tell them that Jesus cares for them and so does the
church.
These are
churches that refuse to lurch around the secular landscape seeking the
next big thing progressive Christianity might pluck from the culture or invent on its own.
And in
church settings, the
next question is often «How
big is your
church / ministry?»
But as time goes on, little compromises, become
bigger ones; tiny deviations from the original vision become `'» more relevant» mandates; the vast sums of money it takes to keep the machine going become the catalyst for where the «
church» is going
next.
Rev Coupe said he hopes the school uniform project can be
bigger next year with various local
churches partnering to expand the effort throughout the whole city.

So far, my Clarks pumps have gone to
church twice & out to dinner, and both times I was able to return home, walk comfortably up my driveway & into my room without any urge to kick them off my feet & into a
big fire like some other shoes I have tried... and, my Clarks shopping trip scored me $ 40 to spend on my
next visit - they have those punch card things where a filled card gives you $ $ to spend, and between the pumps, the sandals & that beautiful orchid handbag I filled a card, so I may go back and use the credit towards the nude version of the pumps... and if I get really ambitious, I'll post a picture of myself with the pumps & the bag very soon.
Racing at Lime Rock has never taken place on Sundays, as you may know, since there's that
big church right
next to the front straight, so Sunday was the Park Concours d'Elegance and Gathering of the Marques.
At the end of one of these nightime drives, as we were heading home down the street where our school and
church were, I told everyone in the car that I wanted to live in the
big house
next to the
church.
