It looks and feels like the Genesis Sonic games in many ways, but also feels like a proper sequel to the 16 -
bit Sonic classics.
Still, I suppose it's a small price to pay for such great level design, music and control (16 -
bit Sonic was arguably the best controlling non-Nintendo platforming star).
In fact, it started development as a Sonic fan game, until its developers at GalaxyTrail decided to create their own IP out of their love of the 16 -
bit Sonic the Hedgehog classics.
Of course, it wouldn't be a 16 -
bit Sonic title without some 3D bonus stages.
And merely wishing to the nostalgia Gods that we'd see a 16 -
bit Sonic game in the year 2010 does not constitute giving anyone a chance.
Since hey, it's a traditional, 16
bit Sonic platformer by people who seem to have a good reputation when it comes to making them (albeit unofficially).
Sonic Mania is a retro - style 2D platformer, very similar to the classic, 16 -
bit Sonic games and features redesigned levels and all - new zones, like Studiopolis Zone.
After that you guys just lost your way i don't know if you guys are trying to compete with Mario are what but you all need to do some serious S&S searching (soul & sonic) because you've lost both of them I mean do you guys even listen to your fans they're basically crying for a regular sonic game I guarantee you if a fan made a 8
bit sonic game that was true to the cause and stuck to originality they would make so much more of a bigger impact then you guys.

Triple Trouble is, in my opinion, the best 8
Bit Sonic game and one of the few that can be classified as a classic.

Great news SEGA Nerds and Sonic fans — the Game Gear's 8 -
bit Sonic title, Sonic Triple Trouble, is being remade as a 16 -
bit Sonic game, by Sonic fan and indie developer, Noah Copeland.
This simple story is perhaps the biggest differentiation between Freedom Planet and the 16 -
bit Sonics that inspired it.

The visuals on the other hand, are a mixed bag — due to the nature of the story quite a
bit of the game is spent in desolate industrial environments and grim mechanical facilities, but when the vast majority of
Sonic games are hyper - colorful romps through technicolor wonderlands I'm willing to give
Sonic Team a pass for trying something different.
There wasn't as many SNES Mario's as Genesis
Sonics, so during that period
Sonic was a
bit better, not even close now, not by a long shot.
Original Post: In the last few days leading up to
Sonic Mania's release, SEGA has revealed what possibly will be the last
bit of Mania news.
With
Sonic Mania, the cycle has been broken, as the game is indeed a return to the glory of the 16 -
bit era.
This is all presented in a 16 -
bit / 32 -
bit graphical style to deliver a game that essentially is the long lost Saturn 2D
Sonic game that should have been what
Sonic 4 was.
Fans of the SEGA's blue hedgehog have known about the infamous
Sonic cycle for quite some time: a new
Sonic game is announced, fans get excited, hoping for a return to the glory of the 16 -
bit era, the game disappoints and the wait starts anew.
Sega took a chance in letting a longtime
Sonic fan and a few smaller dev teams bring the original 16 -
bit iteration of their mascot back into the modern era, and the result is
Sonic Mania, one of the purest and most enjoyable
Sonic games we've ever been given.
Even the 16 -
bit classics would regularly get on my nerves, but
Sonic Forces was smooth sailing nearly all the way through.
And recently, we found out a
bit more about said development, and that the game was originally called
Sonic Synergy.
I bet new
Sonic will be little a
bit better over Lost World with tons of fun gameplay than Lost World had.
Your choices of characters are a
bit on the limited side, but each of the characters (all from the
Sonic franchise) have some unique styles that really work well in giving a variety, depending on which character you choose.
The racing just doesn't seem to have all of the depth that you would expect from a
Sonic racing game, and the lack of interaction in the races makes it a
bit tougher to continue to enjoy this game.
Like I mentioned earlier the developers did do a very nice job of capturing the
Sonic style that did make the entire experience a
bit more enjoyable.
Congratulations to Overbound and company for seeing this project to its conclusion because the finished result is a really impressive 16
bit - style

I don't regret my choice one
bit, however, if I had known more about the game, I would have realised that it is not just the Green Hill Zone of
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 on offer, but rather a remake, with a brand new added underground section.
A
bit like
Sonic Generations did, but a
bit more in keeping with the original source material than Generations.
SEGA, along with the excellent Christian «Taxman» Whitehead and Simon «Stealth» Thomley (responsible for the brilliant mobile ports of
Sonic 1, 2 and CD), have taken the 16 -
bit titles, keeping the gameplay and level designs / layouts and just using subtle enhancements to keep the game feeling fresh enough for modern systems.
