Whenever possible, try getting your carbs from whole grain products such as sweet potatoes, brown rice (basmati for example), oats and fruit, even though fruit has
a bit higher sugar content, it is also rich in fiber which slows down its digestion and bad impact.

That sounds great as I was a
bit concerned if it was more like 6 then the
sugar content per slice would be
high for my 7 year old!
However, the
high protein
content counts for something, and if you cut back on the butter and
sugar, it would be pretty easy to make the recipe a
bit healthier.
You can go a
bit longer of a ferment for a more vinegary taste or slightly less if you want a
higher sugar content, which is sweeter.
They have a
bit higher natural
sugar content, but they're still very low - carb and are an excellent source of important fiber.
I just added 1/4 cup more flour because the puree had a
bit higher water
content, substituted 1/4 cup brown
sugar and 1/4 cup white, and added a
bit of pumpkin pie spice.
