Of course, the bad taste comedy is not for everyone, there were times when I felt
really uncomfortable and sometimes the
jokes fell quite flat, some being a
bit overly childish and silly.
After a pharmaceutical - and - alcohol - induced
bit of airplane class struggle that exemplifies Wiig's ability to ramp up a
joke so it doesn't become repetitive (as does a later, extended attempt to have her cop admirer Rhodes (Chris O'Dowd)-- a sweet romantic subplot in which the two have worthwhile conversations and uncontrived issues to resolve — notice her by breaking all sorts
of motor vehicle laws in succession), Annie's life, which she already thought had,
really hits rock bottom.
So
of course it's a
joke that poor Susan Murphy (the voice
of Reese Witherspoon: Four Christmases, Rendition) ends up in a government facility so secret that «it's a crime even to say its name» when she gets zapped by a radioactive meteorite on her wedding day and is mutated into... well, not Bridezilla, because Susan is a
really nice,
really sweet girl, one who's a
bit too accommodating, actually, to her fiancé, TV weatherman Derek (the voice
of Paul Rudd: I Love You, Man, Role Models).
The game is built around this humor, and while some may find it a
bit much, it's clear the team at Arkedo doesn't
really give a f ***, packing the game with constant chuckles from the dialog to the death sequences, leveraging running
jokes, amazing animation and mini-game driven finishing moves that will threaten to unhinge your eyeballs at every monster mashing in the vein
of a cracked - out Ren and Stimpy episoode.
