I used raw buckwheat flour and
a bit of chickpea flour (gram flour).
The canned chickpeas still provide a really gooey, fudgy texture, while the little
bit of chickpea flour ensures the brownies won't fall apart after being cut.
It's clear that I'm
a bit of chickpea fanatic.

chickpea stews are great served over couscous that has been seasoned with lemon, olive oil, a

No, these potatoes don't make themselves, and they do take a

About half
of the
chickpeas are dumped in, sautéed for a
bit and then transferred to the blender along with a little
bit of chicken stock to create a thicker, slightly smooth texture.
I sauteed a
bit of red onion, garlic, bok choy and mushroom in a skillet then transfered the veggies into a pot with 1/2 cup uncooked quinoa, 1/2 cup cooked
chickpeas, 1 cup vegetable stock and some spices (basil, anise seed, cayenne pepper, S&P).

You should be able to experience each ingredient; the sweet earthiness
of the carrot, the toothsome
bites of cabbage, the succulence
of the
chickpea, the substance
of the rice.
This last go» round, I used
chickpeas mashed with a
bit (1/4 cup - ish)
of jasmine rice to help with the «stickiness.»
Instead it disintegrated into
bits and pieces
of chickpeas and parsley.
If salads aren't your thing use a potato masher to squash the
chickpeas down a little
bit and just spread between two slices
of bread for a quick lunch
of avocado
chickpea sandwiches.
My friend had made a very simple
chickpea, parmesan, lemon and oil salad as well, and when we mixed the two together (as you would, accidentally on purpose in a plate), we realized that what this salad lacked was a
bit of crunch.
The earthy taste
of the mushrooms totally envelops the
chickpeas so that when you take a
bite it is a warm, creamy, spiced to perfection little explosion.

We need a little
bit of flour to tighten up the batter — I almost always use banana flour, but if you have trouble finding it, oat flour, buckwheat, and
chickpea flour should all work great here, too.
When I'm flying with my kid I usually pack: a baggy
of Canaan's current favorite cereal (either Rice Chex or now it's pumpkin Joe's O's), LaraBars, Rx Bars, or Perfect Bars, dried coconut strips, apple slices, celery or carrots, homemade Easy Protein Energy
Bites, a banana and Justin's vanilla almond butter packets and sometimes a small container
of rinsed
chickpeas.
This vegan version, which ends up somewhere between a soup and a stew, relies on canned
chickpeas and their liquid for body, but giving them a
bit of a simmer with some aromatics — garlic, onion, bay leaf, and smoked paprika — adds a ton
of flavor back to them.
Both are lighter than oat or
chickpea flour, which I use in a lot
of other baked goods, but I avoided here because they can give a little
bit more dense texture — still amazing, but not what I was aiming for with these dark chocolate cupcakes.
I have about 8 cans
of chickpeas in my cabinet (they were on sale
of course) and have been adding them to my salad everyday — which is getting a

Add
