I made this this morning and added
a bit of coconut oil in the mix along with a splash of vanilla extract and a bit of salt.
I made a few changes: I used all plain flour (that's all I had), sheep's milk yogurt (I bought it to try and it's weird / gross so I made these to use it up), a little
bit of coconut oil in replace of about a quarter of the butter because I didn't want to open a new packet of butter (I'm just lazy:P), and I used 4 small apples instead of 2 big (gasp!).
Heat cacao butter and
a bit of coconut oil in a double - boiler until melted.

Once the mix is nice and firm (I mean really firm, it can't even be a tiny
bit runny — if it is then add another spoon
of psyillium) grease the base
of a loaf tin with
coconut or olive
oil, pour the mix
in and firmly press it down with a spoon or spatula.
There's also an amazing amount
of plant protein
in here too from the almonds, nut butter and pecans so each
bite will energise you, leaving you feeling awesome instead
of lethargic, while the dates dose you up on iron and fibre and the
coconut oil gives you anti-inflamatory goodness!
Then chop the cauliflower into
bite sized pieces and place them
in a baking tray with one tablespoon each
of coconut oil and tamari, as well as a sprinkling
of salt and paprika.
I split the nut / oat mix
in half and made one batch with a scoop
of almond butter and a
bit of coconut oil and they are so good!
Our goals
in using
coconut oil here were to help the Chocolate Lava Dip stay a
bit more smooth, velvety and liquid - y, while replacing fats like shortening that would be more typically used
in this type
of recipe (but which we'd prefer not to use
in our recipes).
I did sub
coconut oil for butter,
coconut oil is so easy to sub 1:1 and has so many good
bits for you Also, I had no maple syrup on hand so just used the same amount
in honey although next time will use maple as I love the flavour
of maple
in muffins and cakes.
Place about 1/3 cup
of the batter into the waffle iron and sprinkle a
bit of the remaining
coconut sugar on top
of the batter
in the waffle iron (you may want to grease the iron with
coconut oil or butter to keep sugar from sticking), then close the iron and cook according to your iron's directions.

I'm doing a
bit of an asian riff on this tonight —
coconut oil, kaffir lime leaves, coriander root (no ginger
in house sadly), coriander leaves, lime zest, plus some feta marinated
in chilli & coriander.
In an attempt to scrub the crazy huge amount
of peeling skin off, I gave him a little
bit of coconut oil and some coarse sea salt and had him scrub hard for a few minutes, before washing it off.
Using a frying pan, sauté the onions slowly
in a
bit of olive
oil or odorless
coconut oil.
The first steps
in making this version are pretty much the same as when making regular
coconut butter, except this time, we're not only adding unsweetened shredded
coconut to the bowl
of our food processor, we're also adding
coconut oil and a little
bit of salt.

I found the BEST way to get these to look like yours & to have the thinnest texture is to add almost double the water
in the recipe & pan fry them
in a very hot cast iron pan (or whatever your choice
of pan) w / a
bit of coconut oil... & like you said, don't forget to push down on them after you slip them to get the pan marks;).
Sometimes I add
in coconut cream to make it more
of a frosting for cupcakes or
coconut oil if I want to thin it down and keep it a
bit softer.
My go to drink
in the cooler months is a chai latte made with dark roasted dandelion root tea, a hint
of nut milk and a
bit of coconut oil to emulsify.
if you do need to use other dates, I recommend making a thick paste with them — put them
in a bowl with a
bit of hot water to soften them up; soak for half hour
