It'll be neat to see the

cabinets and all of our dark espresso stained furniture pop against lighter floors
too.
Also paint the green sink white
too, and LEAVE the white Formica top, if Jane likes white, and PAINT the existing
cabinet below, in a robin's egg blue (or whatever color of Jane's choosing... seafoam, red,
black, whatever!)
Notice the

too, which also help the
cabinets to stand out.
No warm wood to relate to the orange, the white
cabinets are
too white and of course the strip of
black accent in the backsplash?
As for painting your
cabinets black, if you have lots of light in here it would work - but it may be
too dark with your dark countertops and dark appliances.
You know, I
too have similar wood
cabinets (already in my new house) and I can attest to the fact that they are so much easier to keep looking clean than the
black or white ones.
