These stereotypes contribute to the fear among some

black boys, which dumbs down the instructional rigor that these students
need to achieve a high - quality education.
Educators need to become agents of change in regards to our discipline and approach to
black students and especially to
black male students.

Remember that our young
black girls
need educators that are intentional and conscientious about their interactions with them.
There is a critical consciousness that is
needed by all
educators; but
black teachers who fail to educate their students from a liberating perspective can do more harm than good.
Needing a free and quiet place to study, plan lessons, write papers, and de-stress in affinity with other
Black educators and teachers?
Before diving into academic content with students and using the same teaching styles that have produced the current student outcomes,
educators need to get to know
black students and their families — their interests, goals, and past school experiences.
Do you

Black educators?
Finally, whatever intervention this Board takes, it must do so with actual evidence of the issues, concerns, and
needs of
Black, Latinx, Asian, and Native American
educators and students rather than with the clever marketing and weak evidence provided by the charter school industry.
We will have meaningful indicators to show us in
black and white what
educators have been saying all along: Not all students have what they
need for success.
