figures that show the particularly low numbers of
black women
among the top rungs of major businesses.
Overall,
black unemployment stood at 15.6 percent in November;
among Hispanics, that
figure was 12.7 percent.
There are a number of reasons for this, but one particularly striking
figure is that a quarter of American parents still put their babies to sleep on their stomachs, a percentage that rises to half
among African - Americans;
black babies die of SIDS twice as often as white babies.)
Compared with census
figures from the 1990s, the numbers of Hispanic and Asian New Yorkers grew more slowly;
blacks recorded their first population loss since the Civil War; and non-Hispanic whites, who registered their smallest population loss in decades, also logged the biggest gains of any group
among young children.
In 1992,
among the high - scoring high school seniors (those with test scores in the top tenth of the class),
black and Hispanic youth were three times as likely to be from families with incomes less than $ 20,000 than white and other non-Hispanic youth (12)(see
figure, below).
The observed association between usual percentage of calories from added sugar and increased risk of CVD mortality was largely consistent across age group, sex, race / ethnicity (except
among non-Hispanic
blacks), educational attainment, physical activity level, HEI score, and BMI (
Figure 2 and Supplement [eTable 1 and eFigure]-RRB-.
After the usual rigamarole about shooting challenges and directorial perfectionism, someone asked Zhang Yimou what he thought the film was about, which he either answered honestly or deftly dodged by asserting that what he wanted people to take from the film, long after they've forgotten the plot, are the memories of certain images: two women in red fighting
among swirling yellow leaves, two sorrowful men flying and dueling on a lake as still as a mirror, a sky of
black arrows, a desert moonscape haunted by lonely
figures in white.
But
among the 2008 cohort — who graduated just on the cusp of the Great Recession — the employment rate drops sharply to 72 percent for
black graduates, while dipping more modestly to 83 percent for white graduates (see
Figure 6).
However, none of these effects were found
among black children, a third of those served (see
Figure 2) although one of the surveys suggested that
black children who attended Head Start engage in less criminal activity.
Just 51 percent of
black students graduate from high school; the graduation rate
among white students is 72 percent (see
Figure 1).
But the numbers show that even when
blacks are successful in attending and completing college, they're still less likely to be gainfully employed than their white peers, hinting that less education isn't the entire problem, and that attempts to boost educational attainment
figures among blacks won't be the entire solution.
These
figures have remained fairly consistent since the 2003 - 2004 edition of the survey, but when you compare them with the results of the most recent U.S. Census, which says that Hispanics now make up over 16 percent of the population (up 43 percent since 2000) and
blacks make up 12 percent (up 12.3 percent since 2000), it seems that little headway has been made in promoting pet ownership
among these ethnic groups.

Hailed in his own lifetime as
among the most important
figures of 20th - century art, both as a practitioner and as a teacher at the Bauhaus,

black history self - portraits, Cameroon - born photographer Samuel Fasso recreated a famous profile image of Malcolm X. His «African Spirits» series, which also includes images of Martin Luther King Jr., Angela Davis and Ethiopian Emperor Hailé Sélassie,
among others, pays homage to major
figures throughout the African diaspora whose principles, perspectives and actions shaped post-colonial thought.
Cortor's body of work is pioneering because he emphasized the beauty of the
