memorial's polished
black granite wall, bringing the total of honored fallen police officers listed to 1,340.
The
memorial, with the locomotive carved in
black granite, was dedicated at the National Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire yesterday (22 May) in a service conducted by Rev James Lindsay of the Railway Mission.
Comprised of a
black granite slab carved with the words «partial truth», this sculpture appears rather like a
memorial plaque, and is reminiscent of 1960s minimalist artworks.
