I used to live
on a property with many
black walnut trees but we didn't bother eating the nuts because the shells are much harder than English
walnuts and you have to use a sledgehammer to crack them, which of course then smashes your nut.
All the art was made from the elemental materials of his farm in the Catskills: beeswax and honey, eggs, wool from his Kashmir goats,
black paint from his
walnut tree, and white carbonite paint made from pissing
on sheets of lead.
The cabinets are topped with a solid chunk of
Black Walnut that we got from a friend who had cut down and milled some
walnut trees on his land several years ago (whenever using solid wood, make sure that is is properly dried to avoid warping and splitting).
