Of course, everything about «Pompeii» feels half - assed — from its
bland romance, to its terrible dialogue, to the worthless addition of 3D — and though it's slightly better than last month's «The Legend of Hercules,» the
film is still a pretty miserable viewing
experience.
Sean Penn's
film is the movie equivalent of people who think Africa is a country, glossing over the
experiences of nameless refugees in montage to make way for the real conflict: the
bland romance between benevolent white saviours Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem.
