I teach free or
blank verse forms that have no rhyming patterns and no special rules about numbers of
lines or
line breaks.
Do not use multiple
line breaks, those look terrible on the screen — use a
blank line and a row of asterisks to indicate chapter or section
breaks instead.
Some authors prefer to use *** as a scene
break and some prefer just a
blank line (done by hitting the enter key twice).
This is because the
blank line can end up at the top or bottom of the page, confusing the reader whether or not there is actually a section
break.
However,
blank lines to indicate section
breaks is a poor practice in eBooks.
It was terribly formatted, there were about five
lines to a page, every time there was a paragraph
break there were lots of
blank spaces.
