as they are of this engagement, I pray that this matter remain «open» for many years to come; that the entries on my docket sheet act enhance the causes of those souls who came before me and enabled me to live the fortunate life that I do; and that we all be inscribed for a year of good in which we come to a true acknowledgment of our place in the world and our duties to it; a year of redemption and brotherhood; and a year of life lived by all of us — even lawyers, even judges, even
