I'd never used Garam Masala before but it's
a blend of spices used in Indian cooking that consists of cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, black pepper and coriander.
Chinese Five Spices is a traditional
blend of spices used in Chinese Cooking.

The
blend of spices worked so well I was feeling lazy after a busy day so
used cooked lentils (also added a couple
of grated carrots for extra texture haha) but it still worked fine, just needed much less time to cook.
I tried your stew last night and loved it ♥ I

But, when I dig deep for an answer, it's more likely because it's always seemed like a toned down version
of Chai Masala - the
spice blend that Indians

of the imitation stuff, Medaglia D'Oro Italian import instant espresso, Captain Morgan rum, and I brewed Lavazza espresso shots with my espresso machine for the glaze.

spice instead
of this
blend, because I had some home - made that was leftover from something I made last week.
It isn't cooked the way traditional shawarma is, but it is still grilled, which gives it a nice flavor, and it is
using a
blend of spices that will give you the taste that you're seeking out when you're in shawarma mode.
I also substituted smoked paprika for the liquid smoke and
used a garbanzo / Ava
blend flour, rolled oats instead
of bran and a little more
of the
spices and nutritional yeast.
The pumpkin
spice oats (double the vanilla, double the chia,
used ginger instead
of cloves, pumpkin / sweet potato purée
blend I had in the freezer and coconut cream from a can instead
of milk) and they are the best!
We
use Xyletol instead
of stevia and a
blend of spices instead
of cinnamon....
