It only launched late last month, and already the Tumblr
blog Sh-t People Say to
Women Directors (& Other
Women in Film)
is deluged with horror stories
about working in Hollywood.
The first step in our M.O.M. formula
was to run ads on
blog posts
about women's health.
This

is the CTA
about how to have a great Halloween despite an injury you see on that sidebar to the right.

I find it interesting that the day after you wrote
about the evil treatment of ministers in the United Methodist Church who
are in favor of marriage equality in the church, you wrote this
blog on how
women could affect equality within the church.
This young

But it
is well to remember that not only did He interpose his body (which these days
is the Church — something to think
about and quite in line with the
blog's point) between the
woman caught in adultery and the mob out to persecute her quite literally to death, He also turned to her and said, «Go and sin no more.»

The interesting thing
about writing on a

I showed the article to her and said «Hey this

about with the great

Lauren, a mom of 2 and TV news producer

blog about parenting, fitness, recipes and personal stories from her life and family.
Shawn
is an amazing

about her and her

Heather at A Mama's
Blog who has had both a c - section and a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and has written
about in the past
about her c - section experience and what a c - section
is really like believes the insurance situation should
be alarming for all
women in their child - bearing years.
I had no idea a
blog post written tongue - in - cheek
about whether
women should marry attractive men or not would create such a furor — Jezebel thinks I
'm blaming
women for men's bad behavior (I
'm not); Rush Limbaugh thinks I
'm a militant feminist (wow,
is he ever wrong, but I already knew that
about him); the ladies of «The View» debated it; Shannon Devereaux Sanford interviewed me for her show, Shannon's Corner on WTBQ in New Jersey; the podcast «The Bold and the Beautiful» talked
about the column (they called me a «great» columnist!)
I think what I've learnt from reading the
blog and comments today
is the following: feeling bitter
about being single and blaming other people (and oneself)
is not a great idea (and this goes for
women and men equally).
When she
's not writing
about cloth diapers, Lauren Stevens tackles parenting topics (often with humor) and discusses
women's issues on her
blog.
«If one grieving mother or father reads
about Charlotte and feels a little less alone, and if even one baby
is saved because I
was brave enough to speak
about my loss, that
woman, and everyone who frequents her
blog, can say all the nasty, slanderous things they like
about me.»
Her
blog serves up advice for parenting with humor and non-judgment giving
women who
are feeling awkward
about motherhood the chance to breath and feel confident
about who they
are and their important role.
The modern mom can do anything but she can't
be everything, Katie writes, and that
's why a
blog about making choices and
being Okay with those choices
is empowering and pushes
women and mothers forward in life.
My first consult
was with a lovely
woman named Erin, and we talked
about the challenges of work re-entry (she has a toddler and a preschooler), how to start a
blog, and how to intersect with social media in ways that feel comfortable to her (as someone who
is not an oversharer) while meeting her goals.
, Sabrina letting me choose her top to wear to school (seriously, she considers it an honor), doing a crossword puzzle on my commute, catching up with a friend from my last job, sushi for lunch (you may not know this
about me but I
am part
woman, part tuna), a green light for a
blog project I'd
been hoping would happen.
-LSB-...] I
was recently told
about the perfect place for
women bloggers to get together, promote their
blogs to a targeted and interested audience and add other sites to their expanding list of daily reads.
Five years ago I would have
been the
woman reading this
blog before my first pregnancy, interested and curious
about home birth, with an uninterested partner, but none the less... willing to entertain the discussion.
I've read a few
blogs, probably because various posters here led me to them, where
women who
were interested in homebirth changed their minds before the baby came because they got new information
about safety (often specifically pertaining to their pregnancy, but still....).
One of the best things
about running this
blog is the delight of witnessing
women and men discover that they
are great writers while engaging with each other in the comments section.
From the moment I started this
blog, my personal mission has always
been to show
women how to look great, for less — something Walmart knows a little something
about too.
It
's where hundreds of
women bloggers introduce their
blogs and share a little bit
about themselves.
In addition to talking
about the natural parenting strategies that I use, I
blog from the perspective of
being an immigrant and a
woman of color.
Often when I post
about a
woman who has
been harassed while breastfeeding in public or a
blog post advocating for the fair treatment of breastfeeding
women I see comments such as these:
-LSB-...] you have no idea what I
'm talking
about, the 5 Minutes for Mom Ultimate
Blog Party
is the event of the year for
women bloggers.
Can I just say that recently the Academy of Breast Feeding Madison wrote a
blog about lactivism and the breastfeeding backlash, I think it
was in October of last year, and what they said that any
woman who has just had a baby would probably see a lactivist as the enemy.
The
blog isn't
about shaming American
women into full term breast feeding.
She went on to explain that she had read different
blogs and forums
about how hard it
was to get a good latch,
women with bleeding nipples, and babies not gaining weight.
And to hear what other members of the Green Moms Carnival
are saying
about Walmart
's Sustainability Index and its impact on consumers, please check out Mary Hunt
's blog, In
Women We Trust, where she hosts this month
's Green Moms Carnival on Sustainable Standards: What
's the Consumer
's Opinion?
But... we had some
women complain
about that... so we've maintained that the Ultimate
Blog Party
is for
women.
I did manage to find a couple of
blogs by
women who had done it and so knowing that it could
be done, I pretty much set
about blazing a trail for others.
Luckily I
was speaking upstairs in the session
about «engaging
women» (apparently we
are not engaged if we do nt use the main 4 political
blogs) and the TUC paid it.
Speaking of Ashley Dupre, it looks like there
's a reason the call girl who Eliot Spitzer frequented decided to post a rant
about women on her
blog today, as opposed...
I think anyone who makes a remark on a
blog about a
woman's appearance should
be required to run their own photo next to their comment.
