The whole idea
of the book
blog tour is for you to become more than a
name; it is a way for readers to get to know the
name behind the book and to find
out more about the author as an individual.
So the first thing I did was read everything I could find on Sam Morgan, from his
blog to any mentions
of him on any forum I could find (apparently finding an agent is a bit like stalking,) and the second thing I did was throw
out my standard form query letter, the one I'd been sending to everyone minus a
name change and a few personalized touches to prove I didn't have a standard query form letter.
Keep your
name out there, keep building connections, keep polishing your craft, and never underestimate the power
of blogs and the leverage
of Twitter.
We start
out hoping for a bunch
of rave reviews from big
name book
blogs or prestigious print journals, but after 100s
of rejections from overwhelmed sites, we're grateful for a lukewarm mention on a
blog with a readership
of two people and a parakeet.

out as a straight up and down family travel
blog and I went so far as to change the
name and URL for all the reasons mentioned here — it is not really my idea
of a dream job at all and I didn't want to get sucked in to the competition even as a hobbyist.
Because
of your
blog, I have now the desire to check
out Paraguay, Guatemala, and Suriname (just to
name a few) when I can fit them into my schedule.
After trying
out a load
