Believe it or not, I HAVE been
doing a great job with
goal setting this year... I just haven't been
blogging about it.
Whether you take on opportunities to
do some
blogging, write reviews, or write for a university publication, improving your general writing skills will help you in your academic publishing
goals and make you a better communicator overall.
The
goal of the day - long event was to initiate a conversation about yoga and contemporary thought (although those of us in the
blogging trenches have been
doing this for years).
Before I started
blogging, I didn't know that there were all of these amazing women in the
blogging community, but one of my
goals moving forward is to build better relationships and get to know some of these amazing women better.
Little
did I know that I would have changed my focus many times, take multiple
blogging breaks when life started to get crazy, I would be constantly learning and setting new
goals for SGSB, or that I would have been able to meet some fabulous women throughout this journey!!

It's hard to start
blogging when you're not sure what you're
doing, so I find it best to gradually figure out what's you and what you like so you can have a clear focus on working towards that
goal.
I used to set them in years past but quickly found that I wasn't the strict resolution type (by that I mean: I couldn't keep them, and it made me sad when I didn't meet my
blogging goals).
So, don't give up on my quite yet if I seem to be slacking, I've been busy working through the holiday season since it's our crazy time of year but come January 1, I will be hard core
blogging, sharing my trips, fashion tips, fitness
goals...

I don't want to share everything right now, but one reason I'm thrilled is because I've been spot on with one of my
goals:
blogging regularly.
I didn't foresee my state of happiness changing, and when I graduated, I couldn't have been more excited to embark on my new
goal: full - time
blogging in, you guessed it, the big city.
January 2010 I started
blogging and by the end of 2012, so we are talking a good couple of years of
blogging here, I built a speaking platform for myself, I had started podcasting, I was
blogging a couple times a week, good community of people and then boom, the book offer comes in from a publisher in the U.S. and I didn't go with that initial offer but it made me think very seriously about going back to that
goal of someday writing a book and so I was introduced to a literary agent and I obviously went the traditional publishing route with Virtual Freedom but there's nothing wrong with the self publishing route at all.
But concluding that all book trailers are a silly approach to book promotion doesn't make any more sense than deciding that
blogging for book publicity is a bad idea after you've seen a badly - written book blog, or reasoning that media releases don't work after you've seen an incompetently - handled press release (most likely, one that reads as if it were an ad for a book, which won't accomplish anything, rather than an actual news release, which most likely will help you achieve your book promotion
goals).
Have decreased the amount of time I spend on
blogging, FB and twitter — since it didn't «translate» into promoting my books or getting closer to reaching those
goals.
I didn't write about this sooner because I was just getting started
blogging, and had other
goals.
I started
blogging long ago but I had to leave it aside cause I didn't have time at all, my biggest
goal was to learn to organize my time and be able to combine work / travel with writing.
My
blogging goals however, may be harder for me to accomplish but I will
do my best this year.

The
goal of everything I
do — from business cards to
blogging — is to get motivated potential clients to my website so they can contact me.
Writing down my
goals is just one way that helps me reflect on how I'm
doing — that's why I started this
blogging journey in the first place.
If you feel stuck where you are in
blogging but want to grow a thriving business, set those long term
goals and start being more deliberate about what you
do.
But if I put as much effort into getting the business up and running as I
do blogging, I think it would be going strong by now, and i could be at home (home business) where my family is (which is one of the
goals).
