bodies of men after death return to dust, and see corruption: but their souls, (which neither die nor sleep) having an immortal subsistence, immediately return to God
who gave them.
He is the person
who makes sense
of the universe, including matter and the
body - soul nature
of Man.
The actions
of the spiritual
body are animated and directed by that life - giving spirit
of the last Adam, that
man who stands on the threshold
of a new emergent reality, the
body of Christ.
So, what Our Lord is saying when he uses that one word «Woman» is: «You
who were destined to be essential to the plan to save mankind,... you
who were kept free from sin so you could freely consent,... you
who did say «Yes»,... you
who will watch over My Mystical

This concept
of «soul,» and the physicalism proposed by many
of the contributors, is unacceptable to those
who hold that Christianity teaches that
man is one unified being but composed
of two essential parts - a physical
body and a properly spiritual soul which, though the substantial form
of the
body, is a subsistent entity capable
of conscious existence when separated from its
body between an individual's death and the General Resurrection.
«Since it has been entrusted to the Church to reveal the mystery
of God,

of man, she opens up to

of forgiveness

who repent; but above all, and chiefly, there is the guarantee
of spiritual strength to live as Christ's

body of Christ's church, which is «the blessed company
of all faithful people.»
For example, the
man who fasts develops strength
of will because he decides not to eat or drink; he becomes more considerate
of his fellowmen; he becomes pious and virtuous; his spirit is enlightened and his
body becomes clean
of sin.
