The Low
Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) has welcomed a recommendation in a report by the House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee that the «self - employed» should be given at least «worker» employment status unless the engager of their labour can prove otherwise.1 This is a recommendation that LITRG made in written evidence to a separate inquiry.2 LITRG believes that the denial of employment rights to people working in the «gig economy» and the exploitation of other flexible workers regarding their taxes share a common cause: the workers» own lack of knowledge, their reluctance to challenge their treatment because they lack confidence or just need the work and the businesses involved apparently having little fear of action being taken
against them by public
bodies.

The plan calls for independent oversight of the city's Housing Preservation Department; establishing a public education campaign to inform tenants about HPD's role; empowering a new

Human Rights Watch report3 notes that while its research hasn't found «a pattern of abuse that could be considered systematic» the rights
body «findings raises serious concerns about abuses by AMISOM4 soldiers
against Somali women and girls» with survivors of sexual exploitation expressing feelings of «powerless» to fearing «retaliation or retribution, as well as the stigma and shame that the abuse could bring» and others, despite being engaged in exploitive relationships feared loosing «their only source of
income» (HRW, 2014, September, p. 25).

against free and reduced - price lunch eligibility rates to determine which schools are truly excelling at educating low -
income students and which schools are simply coasting along with an advantaged student
body.
To safeguard
against this, the school has pledged to continue recruiting purposefully from the North Lawndale neighborhood (representing 70 percent of the current student
body) and creating eligibility requirements for students to come from legitimately low -
income environments.
Going
against the grain in a country where many public schools are de facto segregated by
income, these socioeconomically integrated charter schools have developed innovative methods for enrolling and serving a diverse student
body.
