While the words in the
emails seem shockingly harsh, it's worth noting that the finer points
of communications — tone
of voice,
body language or background on the histories
of the people involved, for example — can't be conveyed through the written word.
Because so much
of communication is derived from nonverbal cues such as
body language, an effectively - written
email is particularly important: without those nonverbal cues,
emails can so easily get misinterpreted, at best leading to minor misunderstandings, and at worst, derailing important business projects.
Because
of the time delay in transmitting
emails, it does not involve real - time
communication complete with
body language, vocal tone and eye contact, but it does involve plenty
of real - life feelings.
