The Premier League game between Manchester Utd and Bournemouth was postponed until Tuesday night following a fake
bomb left by a private company after a training exercise involving explosive
sniffer dogs last Wednesday.
On average, these
dogs would have spent around eight years serving the nation as SAF guard
dogs, or
sniffer dogs that conduct
bomb sweeps during large scale events like the National day Parade.
These same traits often lead to some of these animals being recruited into service positions, either as helper
dogs for the disabled or as
bomb and drug
sniffers for law enforcement agencies.
That number is up to more than 500, with the vast majority of
dogs being trained as sentries and
bomb -
sniffers.
