They have access to an area south of Manado called Popooh which offers «macro» diving on small coral
bommies in an area rich in sea - grass, muck diving in the dark sands of Manado Bay, the coral reef covered walls of nearby Bunaken Island, the soft coral around the volcanic island of Bangka Island, and renowned muck diving of the Lembeh Strait.
The diving is pretty nice, sloping reefs with healthy soft on the deeper areas and hard corals
bommies in the shallows.

Bommies are made up of three pinnacles rising from deep water with swim throughs at the base, slopes clad
in hard and soft corals, and anemone gardens at the top.
You'll find giant
bommies shrouded
in glassfish, huge gorgonian fans and table corals, sharks, turtles, trevallies, groupers and barracudas.
The Maori Wrasse Bommie dive site is
in the north western corner of the reef, and includes broken sandy bottom with small
bommies and boulders, plus a large extent of staghorn coral which seems to be a favourite haunt of the turtles.

The greatest feature of scuba diving
in Bali is the rich and varied sites - deep drop - offs and steep banks, coral ridges and
bommies, one of the most famous wrecks
in the world, volcanic outcrops and seagrass beds.
Sea snakes and octopus (Octopus vulgaris) can be spotted inside the crevices
in bommies but be careful because the extremely venomous greater blue - ringed octopus has been seen
in this area.
If you venture deeper you'll find schools of sweetlips beside
bommies which are literally shrouded
in glass fish.
