book reviews.

against the demand by removing the «buy» button on Amazon's
site for Macmillan
books after Macmillan proposed a new agency model deal.
I find that although I can put my hand up and proudly say, «look, I've learned to blog, I've set up a website, a facebook
site, I've learned to tweet, I've created
book covers, written blurbs, fought my way though formating», that all seems to count
against me in the publishing world.
Actually, the metrics work
against that recommendation — Amazon is likely to show up higher if someone searches for author +
book + title anyway since Amazon is a bigger
site, but the metrics are that every extra click you put between the reader and the buy button reduces the likelihood of a purchase.
Now obviously I haven't compared prices
against all of Yonderbound's 383,693 property listings (because that would be insane), but I chose a selection of the hostels, apartments and hotels that appear in my Budget Stays in Europe Yonderbox, comparing prices
against Booking.com, Hostelworld and Hostelbookers, which are the main
booking sites I normally tend to use.
I've also noticed that it's good to check the perks offered on the travel discounts
sites against the ones offered through the hotel
booking site because sometimes you gain more perks by
booking directly which can make it worth the few extra dollars.
Some of you might recognize one of its top bloggers, anti-skeptic
book author Ross Gelbspan, a guy who has been blogging at the
