The entire
first half of the sample chapter for this
book is nothing but promotional testimonials — the kind of
blurbs you'd see on the back cover of a paperback.
A title page is usually the very
first page of the
book — always appearing on the right side — unless
blurbs have been placed in front of it.
Finally, take a look at this
book description from Dan Silva - it's a great example of a
book that combines great
blurbs with a
book description that pulls you in from the
first sentence.
I tested out 5 different
blurbs in a FB ad for the
first book in my series, and used the one that performed best from my ad, and saw an instant increase in sales from doing so.
Remember to brand your cover and
blurb similarly to the
first book in your series.
Always write a
book blurb in the third person, even if your
book's in
first person.

First it's your
book cover design, then reviews and your
book blurb.
In the
first part of this post, I discussed the important of having
blurbs or varying lengths for your
book and a set of cover images ready for any occasion.
Write a
blurb for your
book, convert the
first chapter into a PDF, and offer it as a free download for subscribers.
But before I bought any of their
books for the
first time, I was drawn to the
book covers, then to the «
blurb» either on the back cover or right inside the front.
Remember, the
first thing most people will see of your
book is the cover, and if it turns them off for whatever reason, they'll likely never get as far as reading a
blurb, never mind buying your
book.
To get a handle on best practices, I did an unofficial survey of followers on my Facebook page — presumably people open to my fiction — and asked them what they thought of
first - person
book blurbs.
But they did object to a
first - person
blurb for a third - person
book.
In other words, perhaps a
first - person
blurb would actually help filter out readers unlikely to enjoy the novel while successfully targeting the
book's niche readership.
The KS page presents the cover, the
first chapter or so of each
book, a
blurb and an interview with the author.
I believe that most authors, and even many traditional publishers, overlook the crucial importance of preparing
first - rate promotional copy for a
book's Amazon product page: a compelling product description and enthusiastic
blurbs to accompany whatever positive reader reviews the
book generates.
In the future when writing my next
book, I will probably start off with writing the
blurb first because this makes you focus on the key aspects and components of your
book.

book is selling regularly, wait for a sales valley before you experiment with your
blurb.

books in bookstores, or even at the local grocery store or Walmart, covers have often played a role in getting us to pick up a
book to read the

books is the words themselves.
The pros will continue to put up quality work, with great covers and enticing back cover
blurbs and well edited sampling so that readers will find new authors the same as they always have; having heard about an author from a friend or seeing them mention in a blopg or on a writers site or panel, maybe an online review, They'll «pick up» the
book that looks attractive and interesting, check out the description and maybe reading the
first few pages.
Excuse my cluelessness but I'm self publishing my
book in August through
Blurb first and then going from there, but my formatter / editor and general handler of things I don't understand was talking to me about ISBN numbers... Now I understand that I need to pay around # 126 for one!?
If you look around, you can find a number of high - selling indy authors who in the description /
blurb of their
first book will have something about the
book being «re-edited now that I can afford it», or something similar.
Especially if you're a
first time author or don't have any
blurbs or heavy - hitter recommendations for your
book.
What I learned with my
first book is that readers were clicking on my cover, reading my
blurb, and then moving on to another
book.
When you self - publish, you learn to write to market, you learn about
blurbs and pitches and hooks and all sorts of neat marketing stuff, and at
first, I thought that if my
books «didn't make it», it would be a disaster, that I too (because of them) would never make it as a writer, that no agent or publisher would ever want to get near me.
