At the time I simply loved the
book and its red snow - suited hero,
Peter, having no clue that this 1963 Caldecott Medal winner was groundbreaking, the first mainstream picture
book to
feature an African - American child.
One
feature that I really enjoyed in this
book was that each chapter ends with a little section titled «Don't take my word for it,» in which Bogle then offers up the opinions of various other experts like Warren Buffet, Benjamin Graham,
Peter Lynch, and many other investors and investment thinkers of our time.
The 101 stories chosen for each
book from thousands of submissions are not only inspirational and fun, but many of them also
feature adopted dogs and cats, including black dogs and cats, senior
pets, and pit bulls, the categories of
pets that are most often left behind at shelters.
And wrapping up that special
pet connection to presidents, we
feature another article by Ranny Green, Vets and Pets, a
book about wounded warriors and the animals that help them heal.
The My Old Dog
book stemmed from a TODAY.com
feature story I wrote in 2013 with the headline ««No dog should die alone»: Photographer promotes senior
pet adoption.»
