I am happy to admit that they are important but the question is whether the concepts developed and explored in this
book are useful guides to those who have, as
students, to understand the
law, or who, as practising lawyers, have to make the
law work in a world where clients need to have things done
for them and disputes resolved.
Given that The Blue
Book is edited by
law students, and
law students being... well,
law students, it should come as no surprise to learn that «the definitive style guide
for legal citation» is sprinkled with inside jokes.
Because the publisher only gets to sell a new copy of a
book once, and some
law students are smart enough to buy used textbooks that are still required
for a particular class, so there's a strong incentive
